Heavy Duty Trucking’s (HDT) Top Green Fleets Lead the Trucking Industry in Sustainability
There has been a major push in the trucking industry to use more sustainable practices. Implementing concepts like electric vehicles are becoming a necessity in the industry and frankly, everyone wants to be the most efficient when moving freight. The question is, who’s on the list?
In this segment of Tuesday’s Trailer Topic, we are going to take a look at the top green fleets of 2024. The top fleets were chosen because of factors such as:
- Adoption of alternative fuels and powertrains
- Industry-leading fuel economy
- Freight-efficiency strategies
- Leading-edge “green” facilities
- Sustainability goals
- Willingness to share their experience with others
- Other “green” awards received
- Plans for the coming year

- Averitt – Cookeville, Tennessee
- DB Schenker Land US – West Memphis, Arkansas
- Detmar Logistics – San Antonio, Texas
- Knight-Swift Transportation – Phoenix, Arizona
- M&M Cartage – Louisville, Kentucky
- NFI – Camden, New Jersey
- Nussbaum Transportation – Hudson, Illinois
- Old Dominion Freight Line – Thomasville, North Carolina
- Paper Transport – De Pere, Wisconsin
- Schneider – Green Bay, Wisconsin
- System Freight – Jamesburg, New Jersey
- TCI Transportation – Commerce, California
- Werner Enterprises – Omaha, Nebraska
In summary, these are just some of the fleets that have started moving towards sustainability. In consideration of the California Clean Air Act there will be a push to have zero-emission technology by 2045. This will drive other fleets toward sustainability and eco-friendly tech.
