Manufacturing Day 2024: Gearing Up for the Next Generation

Manufacturing is an essential part of the economy – “producing goods for domestic and international trade, driving research and innovation and providing well-paying jobs. From the medicines that keep people healthy to the smartphones that connect us, manufacturers are responsible for the products and services that enable our way of life”.

In honor of Manufacturing Day 2024, organized by the Manufacturing Institute, we should be focusing our efforts to inspire the next generation of skilled manufacturing workers. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, there are nearly 13 million people that hold jobs within the manufacturing sector, with another 500,000 job openings as of June 2024! There is a huge need for these jobs and it continues to grow with a prediction of 3.8 million jobs by 2034. “Technology has changed many aspects of manufacturing, but the need for capable workers remains the same.”

As the manufacturing sector grows, so too does our need to move and transport products across our nation. As we produce more goods, we then need to move said products – thus we need to understand the potential impact to the transportation sector, as they go hand-in-hand.
